As Legacy FS we are always looking for ways to try and stimulate society, groups, families, clients and acquaintances to create living legacies (contributions and while they are still living and not only in their wills or in trusts.) Thus not just financial legacies at the “end” as it were, but living growing and on-going legacies that they can nurture and contribute to during their lifetime and watch grow. It does not matter how big or small the contribution is, but rather that we all do what we can to start something, support something and make a difference now.
In co-sponsoring the Legacy|FS Children’s Hospital Team for the upcoming Coronation Double Century cycling event taking place in November, we saw the perfect opportunity to try and nurture awareness across the topic of child safety and cycling awareness, as well as a link to the Trust’s legacy program. We could think of no better way than to bring the cyclists and the trust together, and to try and raise awareness and invaluable funds at the same time for the trust and its good work, through individuals and corporates jumping in and sponsoring the team on the day, either as individuals or as a group. It is a grueling race of over 200km done in one day, and of the 12 team members, at least 6 need to finish together to get the combined time. The team comprises a mix of men and woman, young and old, none of whom have cycled together as whole team before. There are different levels of fitness and experience, so it will have to be a true team effort.
We are proud to be involved with The Children’s Hospital Trust, who fundraise for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. This internationally renowned hospital holds the hopes and dreams of desperately ill children from across Africa. The Children’s Hospital Trust’s ‘Circle of Life’ programme is for those who wish to leave a bequest or make a donation to help generations of sick children.
